Summary
RxHalal is built privacy-first. We do not require accounts, we do not track you across sites, and your saved medications stay on your device.
What stays on your device
RxHalal does not use accounts or a central database for your medicines. The following may be stored in localStorage in this browser only:
- My Meds — medicine IDs you saved.
- Recent scans — last 20 catalog lookups (not while incognito is on).
- Family profiles — names, sensitivity lists, active profile (editing blocked while incognito is on).
- Incognito toggle — stored in sessionStorage (clears when you close the tab); blocks saves and exports while on.
- Large text — accessibility preference.
Pasted ingredient text for AI analysis is sent to our server only when you tap Analyze — it is not stored in our database. Rule-based checks on the scan page run entirely in your browser.
AI features & rate limits
Ingredient analysis, pharmacist-letter polish, and clarifier questions use a hosted AI gateway. We apply per-IP rate limits (roughly 20 analyses, 15 letter polishes, and 25 clarifier calls per 10 minutes) to prevent abuse. We do not retain your pasted text after the response is returned.
Backup includes My Meds, family profiles, recent scans, search history, and scan stats. Clearing data does not remove offline cached pages from the PWA — use browser settings for a full reset.
What we don't do
- No third-party advertising trackers.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
- No medical or pharmacy records leave your device.
Children
RxHalal is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
